Over three days, you’ll discover how tradition and contemporary design coexist in the same region: you’ll learn about the history of clothing, traditional crafts such as leatherwork, artisan workshops and creative projects that keep Galicia’s textile heritage alive. And you’ll enjoy one of the most fascinating and least well-known gastronomic cities in northern Spain.
Between design and tradition
The city of Ourense will be our base for introducing you to Galician fashion and design from a different perspective.
Over the course of this weekend, you’ll discover venues, shops and projects linked to contemporary creation, craftsmanship and textiles, whilst exploring a city where tradition and new forms of design coexist naturally.
And you’ll have time to explore its streets and visit its shops, its spectacular cathedral and its thermal springs.
Trades that are still practised today
In Allariz, the journey continues amongst textiles, leather and traditional crafts. Here you can discover the materials, techniques and working methods that made this medieval town one of the most important centres of trade in the Kingdom of Galicia.
Then it will be time to get stuck in: a hands-on experience centred on sewing, pattern-making and textile design will allow you to gain an insider’s view of the process and put your creative side to work.
Dressing up memory
Traditional dress is also a way of telling the story of Galicia. We’ll follow in the footsteps of the trades that shaped the everyday attire of entire generations, just a stone’s throw from Ourense.
On the morning of the final day, you’ll discover garments, fabrics and techniques linked to different eras and ways of life. A final stop that connects contemporary design with its roots and brings to a close a weekend dedicated to discovering Galician fashion from the inside.
